ஒருத்தி மகனாய் பிறந்து ஓர் இரவில்
ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளர
தரிக்கிலான் ஆகித் தான் தீங்கு நினைந்த
கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்துக் கஞ்சன் வயிற்றில்
நெருப்பென்ன நின்ற நெடுமாலே! உன்னை
அருத்தித்து வந்தோம் பறை தருதியாகில்
திருத்தக்க செல்வமும் சேவகமும் யாம் பாடி
வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தேலோர் எம்பாவாய்!

இத்திருப்பவையின் உரை!


தேவகி பிராடியாகின்ற ஒருத்திக்குப் பிள்ளையாய் அவதரித்து, அவதார காலமாகிய அந்த ஒரு இரவினிலேயே திருவாய்பாடியிலே நந்தகோபரின் மாளிகைக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்து எஷோதைப் பிராட்டியாகிய ஒருத்தியிடம் ஏகாந்தமாக வளருங்கால் கம்சன் அங்ஙனம் வளர்வதைப் பொருக்காதவனாய் இவனை எப்படியாவது கொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று தீங்கினை நினைத்த கம்சனுடைய எண்ணத்தை வீணாக்கி அக்கஞ்சனுடைய வயிற்றில் 'நெருப்பு' என்னும் படி நின்ற சர்வாதிகனான எம்பெருமானே! உன்னிடத்தில் புருஷார்த்தத்தை யாசியா நின்று கொண்டு வந்தோம்; எங்களுடைய மனோரதத்தை நிறைவேற்றித் தருவாயாகில் பிராட்டி விரும்பத்தக்க சம்பத்தையும் வீர்யத்தையும் நாங்கள் பாடி உன்னைப் பிரிந்து பாடுகின்ற துயரம் நீங்கி மகிழ்ந்திடுவோம்


(ஆண்டாள் பாசுரத்தினிலே தேவகி மகனாய் பிறந்து எசோதை மகனாய் வளர்ந்து என்று கூறலாமே! என்றால், கம்சன் கண்ணனைக் கொள்வதற்கு அரக்கர்களை அனுப்பி இருக்கின்றான். ஆதலால் தேவகி மகனாய் பிறந்து என்றாலே கண்ண பிரான் தான் என்று கம்சன் தெரிந்து கொள்வான் என்பதனால் ஒருத்தி மகனாய் பிறந்து ஓர் இரவில் ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளர என்று கூறினாள். ஆனால் மனதிற்குள்ளே தேவகி மகனாய் பிறந்து எசோதை மகனாய் வளர்ந்து என்றே கூறினாள்)

The Divine need:

The Lord with all His mercy listened to their praises and was moved by their faith in Him. He addressed them saying, "All you girls seem to be deeply interested in my wellbeing. You have come here not considering the biting cold, nor your own physical strains. What is that you request from me, the paRai ? (accesories to conduct the vow)"

Sri KrishNA's Reply:

The girls relied, " To speak the truth, we have come here in the pretext of getting the accessories for the vow. But in reality all that we request of you, is uninterrupted service at your golden feet." Hearing this Sri KrishNA said that it might not be that simple for them get it and that there might be some obstacles to that.

The Blessing:

This pAsuram AnDAL sings as a reply to that comment. "You were born as a son of Devaki and on the very same night you were shifted to ThiruvAipADi and you grew there as the son of Sri YasOdhA. To DEvaki you gave to pleasure of giving birth to you and to Sri YasOdhA you gave the pleasure of enjoying your pranks and mischiefs. You have always been dear to your devotees. You brought down kamsA's evil thoughts and made him reach his chosen destiny. Nothing is impossible to you and getting the said obstacles cleared is not a big deal to you. Just have some mercy on us and shower your blessings on us to serve you."
